The worst thing about surfing is pro surfers and sponsored surfers. I remember watching “Bustin’ Down the Door” and thinking these are the guys who ruined surfing. What an absolute disgrace most pro surfers are, you paddle out somewhere like Manu Bay and visiting ‘pros’ from The Mount think they have the right to drop in on anyone because they are ‘sponsored’ by RPM; what a load of crap! The real heroes of surfing are the hard working kiwis who go for a surf after a hard days yakka not the spoilt brats who do nothing for society and are celebrated for it!

Kia ora .What a sad day for the sport of kings. No one really benefits from distructive behaviours and violence has no place in surfing .It is against everything the great Duke Kahanamoku shared when he spread modern surfriding around the the world , even to Australia . Many can harness the physical ability of surfing but not always its true spirit. Greedy immature egos will always produce foolish immature results , that does nothing to uplift us or the sport / lifestyle we love.I feel sorry for all those involved in that disgraceful incident that discredited that event and all those associated with it. No matter who is in the right or wrong , nobody is better off from what happened . Let the court pass judgement and provide justice to those concerned ,learn from it and move on , restoring surfing to the noble sport it should be rather than a haven for those of low character, unworthy to carry on this great legacy of the Duke .
