40 Kg of Board Bags

Having packed and re' packed both my boards and bags, I made the comment to Ange, I should have been a darts player, I mean who really enjoys carting a 40kg of board bags 10ft in length through airports, Ange's response was to say I 'should have been a dancer' followed by laughter..., my reply 'then I may have had some big buff guy to carry my bags of shoes!'
But seriously, I hate the travel part of being a longboard surfer, not only are they large and cumbersome to get around with, I now also have problem of heading to the airport in the rain, adding to weight of the bags!!!

Well all this aside I'm beginning to get excited, 24hours from departure I'm watching the swells forecast for Costa de Caprica, and can't wait to feel the sand between my toes.
The team will meet at Auckland Airport for the first time since selection, from there we'll be traveling together. While there are a few new faces for me to meet, the majority of the guys and girls I have meet at some point, but for those of you who may have missed the naming of the team;
Open Men
Maz Quinn (Gis)
Leon Santorik (Raglan)
Luke Cederman (Raglan)
Zennor Wernham (Raglan)
Open Women
Jessica Santorik (Raglan)
Daisy Thomas (Christchurch)
Men's Longboard
Daryn Mcbride (Mount Maunganui)
Men's Bodyboard
Jarad Ferris (Gisborne)
Andrew Lowe (Blaketown)
Women's Bodyboard
Mihi Wells (Auckland)
plus; Manager - Coach - Judge and NZ Surfing Mag's photographer Cory Scott
Well with many hours of travel ahead before we get to the Games, I'll no doubt have a chance to blog a little more...
Cheers Daryn
