Hello, Howdy Doodie, Kia Ora, and Whaddup readers! This is our first blog for NZ Surfing Magazine.

To be completely honest I don't really know what or how a blog is suppose to go; what does blog even stand for? I'm guessin' from the few ‘blogs' I have read, it stands for Big Load Of Ghit, and I'm sure the ‘G' is suppose to be an ‘S', ha-ha. Anyways, I'll kick it off with a few introductions to our crew.

Cozza


The head of the lens and the honcho in charge of choosing the pics you see in our mag is none other than Cory ‘Double Back Flip off the Rings into Fly-Fishing Gumboots whilst holding a Water-housing' Scott. The ex gymnast/shaper come fishing fanatic/photographer is responsible for arguably the most amazing photos to come from the Land of the Long White Cloud and beyond.

Believe me he's a hard man to please on the photo front, you have to basically be shooting through the legs of a camel with the pyramids as a back drop to even get a hint of a positive ‘skux' comment out of him (for those that don't know, ‘skux' is Mahitian for wicked, awesome and unbelievable but can also mean bad, rude and wrong...go figure!). His critique and high standards for image/content excellence can only be a positive thing for the magazine and our readers; mind you, he's costing me a fortune transporting my faithful camel Horis and my Egyptian painted backdrop every time I go shooting... 
          
    
Luke


Our advertising manager (and also magazine owner along with his better half Kendall) is Luke ‘Can't-Sit-Still-I-Have-ADHD' Millen. Luke's a likeable fellow who loves his surfing and his Coromandel secret spots, don't even bother texting him for a surf report if the Coro is possibly firing cause he'll just tell ya it's two foot, sideshore and rank...when in fact its 3-5ft and smoking (trust me I've heard him say it to a good friend of his on the phone while I was standing right next to him...less is best in his books!).

Matt



Matt Hishon heads the design team. While I haven't really got a great middle name for him I think Just-Going-For-A-Quick-Surf-Back-In-Four-And-A-Half-Hours might just have to do. He's a talented bugger in and out of the water and also has a pink belt in Origami...or maybe that was green belt in Karate, I'll let you find that one out after you call him a ‘pink garter belt wearing miniature shrub cutter'. If you end up with an indent of his heel in your forehead it must have been the latter...

Digga



And then there's me Daniel ‘Where's-The-Woodstock-Does-Anyone-Need-Some 32's-Cause-I'm-Now-A-34' Davie. I'm in charge of making sure there is something to read while you take a dump. I'm also in charge of deciphering articles written by others and putting them into a readable form- in most cases, no easy task. In my short time as editor I have come to expect that anything written by someone under the age of 18 will in the majority be written in cell phone text form eg "Fav srf b 4to6 offshr n jst me n my m8's out". It is my job to turn that into "My favourite surf is four to six foot, offshore winds with just me and my mates out." And it's not just the young writers that I have my work cut out with, while Cory is a talented photographer and does know how to write a good story, he does however suffer from a rare allergic reaction if he uses a full stop. In my short editorial career he so far holds the record for the longest sentence (three paragraphs) without the use of (the scary rash inducing little black dot called a...) a full stop. But hey that's my job (and with a little anti-histamine cream) I think we can work it out.

Anyways fellow bloggers, readers or whatever I'm suppose to call you guys, this is my opening spiel that according to someone higher up the food chain in Blogger Land says should entice you guys to come back to this page to read more of our Totally Skuxin Ghit. Stay tuned we won't disappoint...
