Waikato take Scholastics Title

The Waikato scholastic surfing team swept all before them today (Saturday) to win the 2008 Smokefree National Scholastic Surfing Championships held at Opunake. The twelve-strong team had four finalists going into the last day and converted three of those into wins in the messy 1.5m waves at the Opunake surf break – the Dump. India Wray-Murane won the under 18 girls, Alexis Poulter won the under 16 girls and Ben Poulter won the under 14 boys to claim their first teams title in four years.
